 As an Engineering intern, you’ll gain an understanding of the operations of an Engineering department and be mentored by the department manager. It is a position in developing drafting and design skills in the fast-paced modular construction industry. Learn about this exciting industry while working with an experienced team. This position will report to the Engineering Manager. You’ll get a great glimpse of overall Simplex operations!

Logistics:

  • Summer 2024, May/June-August
  • 25-40 hours per week, 10 weeks
  • $15/hour
  • On-site internship at business location in Scranton (Lackawanna County, PA)

* Requirement: Students are required to check with their college/university career development office to find out if any guidelines, must be followed and/or requirements must be met for the internship (health & safety, academic or other), by the student and/or the small business host.

Qualifications:

  • Coursework in technical drawing using AutoCAD software
  • Interest in entrepreneurship
  • Strong time management and communication skills
  • Are self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Availability to work flexible schedule
  • Can lift a minimum of 25lbs., if required

Projects:

Gain an understanding of how the Engineering department works, with great mentoring!  Internship will include being a part of an Engineering Department in a fast-paced working environment, and will involve the following:

  • Compose shop drawings for single family houses that will go to the construction facility
  • Assist with development of AutoCAD templates and drawing blocks
  • Work with plant personnel during construction
  • Work with sales and purchasing for materials coordination
  • Other projects as assigned.
