This internship opportunity is supported by the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Internship Fund.  Students interested in participating in the Small Business Internship Fund must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Be a resident of Lackawanna County currently enrolled in a college or university
  • Be a currently enrolled student of a Lackawanna County college or university
  • Be a currently enrolled student of a Chamber member college or university: Clarks Summit University, Fortis Institute, Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, Johnson College, Keystone College, Lackawanna College, Luzerne County Community College, Marywood University, Misericordia University, Penn State Scranton, The University of Scranton, Wilkes University.

Snap Slide is an innovative lid design that is changing the way everyday consumers store and dispense products. Originally created as an easy-to open, yet secure cap for pill bottles, it is now finding new applications as potential users wonder how it can adapt to their needs. Help SnapSlide revolutionize the storage industry through your keen insights and fresh ideas!

During this unique opportunity, you will develop market research skills as you gather relevant industry information and share your findings with management. You will also gain a deeper understanding of how a business creates/manages intellectual property, how to run and establish a business through venture capital funding – all while working virtually.

Logistics:

  • Summer 2021 10-week internship with flexible start date (May or June)
  • 10 hours/ week
  • $10/hour
  • This will be is a virtual internship.*
  • The business will utilize Zoom to communicate with the intern.
  • The student will use their own computer and submit work through Google Drive

 

* Requirement before applying: Students are required to check with their college/university career development office to find out if any additional requirements need to be met for the internship, on the part of the student and/or the small business host.

Qualifications:

  • Marketing, Operations, Accounting, Computer Science, General Business Majors
  • Junior or Senior level coursework
  • General experience in social media creation and management
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PPT, Excel)
  • Proven project management skills
  • Analytical and creative thinker
  • Ability to problem solve in a team environment

Project:

The intern will assist SnapSlide as it markets its innovative product to clients all across the USA. The first step in the process is to gather relevant information about the target business and the needs within their industry. The intern will gather this information utilizing Google, Statista, and other resources. Once the research gathering is complete, the intern will then prepare a PowerPoint Presentation sharing their finding to the management of SnapSlide. This presentation will draw upon the previously gathered research and show potential applications of SnapSlide technology for the business. The student will be given the opportunity to attend some of these meetings to better understand the value of their work and the overall mission of SnapSlide. The intern may work on other projects as needed.
