Summer 2021 Marketing Small Business Consulting Internship

Application process open to current University of Scranton Students:

Gain valuable experience by assisting the SBDC with center marketing and small business consulting! You'll be helping small business clients craft their marketing strategies and learn new ways to market businesses impacted by the COVID-19 global pandemic! 

The University of Scranton Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provides consulting and training to businesses of an 8-county region of northeastern Pennsylvania. Part of a nationally-accredited team, the SBDC is located on The University of Scranton campus.

This is a virtual internship opportunity or can be hybrid remote/in-person, depending on the student's preferences.

Logistics:

  • Summer 2021, June start, 10-12 weeks
  • This can be a virtual/remotely-completed or hybrid remote/in office internship 
  • 10-20 hours per week / $10/hour

Qualifications:

  • Must be current University of Scranton student, enrolled in classes for the fall semester
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the digital media landscape, including various social media platforms (including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, LinkedIn)
  • Experience conducting library and internet research
  • Experience with Microsoft applications, basic photo and video editing software/apps, and design tools/apps such as Canva
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Graphic design or video-editing skills a plus, but not required

Projects:

Develop your marketing skills by working with SBDC consultants to assist start-up and growing businesses.

  • Reviewing business plans, assisting with marketing research
  • Completing competitive, industry, and trend analysis
  • Pinpointing areas for marketing improvement in existing businesses impacted by the global pandemic
  • Identifying social media strategy and suggesting professional content
  • Incorporating client goals, along with above research and analysis into a team development of practical marketing plans/strategy for area businesses
  • Assisting with SBDC marketing and social media efforts

Assist in promotion of Small Business Internship Initiative as Student Ambassador
