Minus 100 LLC is a family owned and operated business, founded in 2003 and located in northeastern Pennsylvania. The President, Kevin C. Kerns, has more than 51 years of experience in developing and commercializing micron-size and nano-size super-abrasive materials for use in the micro-electronics industry. Over the past 19 years, Minus 100 has worked collaboratively with university and industrial customers in the development of carbon-based particles, suspensions, and has established important industry contacts for manufacturing carbon-based suspensions. Minus 100 has successfully commercialized several innovations in the past using “top-down” approaches for manufacturing small particle suspensions using carbon allotropes (i.e., diamond, amorphous, semi crystalline, and glassy carbons). Minus 100 is currently developing a new line of conductive carbon pigments for use in conductive inks, paints, and pastes.
Minus 100 is developing commercially competitive processes and products for the global conductive ink markets using U.S. coals as a primary feedstock. Minus 100, LLC has teamed with major players in the carbon supply/processing, ink formulation and conductive ink printing industries.
Join us at Minus 100 during the summer of 2023 for one-of-a-kind, hands-on experience. You will learn how to operate standard and advanced laboratory equipment in a small group setting and close supervision of the laboratory manager. You will perform many tasks such as calibrating machines, running tests, logging data, recommending possible changes to procedure to increase yield/efficiency. You will gain one on one mentoring on entrepreneurship from the owner, learn how to secure funding for your own business, bring a product to market, and navigate complex global competition. Minus 100 can benefit from fresh ideas a student can bring to the table across all aspects of our business. Minus 100 is also happy to teach any other topics the student would like to learn, if it is under our scope.
