This internship opportunity is supported by the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Internship Fund.

Students interested in participating in the Small Business Internship Fund must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Be a resident of Lackawanna County currently enrolled in a college or university
  • Be a currently enrolled student of a Lackawanna County college or university
  • Be a currently enrolled student of a Chamber member college or university: Clarks Summit University, Fortis Institute, Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, Johnson College, Keystone College, Lackawanna College, Luzerne County Community College, Marywood University, Misericordia University, Penn State Scranton, The University of Scranton, Wilkes University.

Summer 2019 Operations Internship

Be a part of Signature Building Systems team and further develop your understanding of how a business operates. Signature Building Systems is a locally owned, custom home manufacture that seeks a qualified, motivated individual and values your perspective. Utilize your academic knowledge and practice your skills while working collaboratively with the president of the business.

Logistics:

  • Summer 2019, June start
  • 20+ hours per week/ 8+ weeks
  • $12+/hour
  • Moosic, PA
  • Laptop will be provided

 

Qualifications:

  • Coursework in Business
  • Experience with Excel; basic understanding of formulas
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to think critically and display initiative

 

Projects:

  • Understand and develop workflows and processes while assisting onboarding of new operations software
  • Analyze pricing, bill of materials, costing and productivity
  • Work collaboratively with business team to share outsider perspective of workflow and assistance in date review and entry

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop a better understanding of how a business operates from quote to production and delivery
  • Exposure to project management, logistics, bidding, negotiations, budgeting and scheduling
  • Opportunity to apply academic knowledge to given projects
