As an Engineering intern, you’ll gain an understanding of the operations of an Engineering department, and be mentored by the department manager. It is a position in developing drafting and design skills in the fast-paced modular construction industry. Learn about this exciting industry while working with an experienced team. This position will report to the Director of Engineering. You’ll get a great glimpse of overall Simplex operations!

Logistics:

  • Summer 2022, May/June-August
  • 25-40 hours per week, 10 weeks
  • $12-14/hour
  • On-site internship at business location in Scranton (Lackawanna County, PA)

Qualifications:

  • Coursework in technical drawing using Revit and AutoCAD software
  • Interest in entrepreneurship
  • Strong time management and communication skills
  • Are self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Availability to work flexible schedule
  • Can lift a minimum of 25lbs., if required

Projects:

Gain an understanding of how the Engineering department works, with great mentoring!

Internship will include being a part of an Engineering Department in a fast-paced working environment, and will involve the following:

  • Compose shop drawings for single family houses that will go to the construction facility
  • Assist with development of AutoCAD templates and drawing blocks
  • Work with plant personnel during construction
  • Work with sales and purchasing for materials coordination
  • Other projects as assigned.

  • Be a resident of Lackawanna County currently enrolled in a college or university
  • Be a currently enrolled student of a Lackawanna County college or university
  • Be a currently enrolled student of a Chamber member college or university: Clarks Summit University, Fortis Institute, Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, Johnson College, Keystone College, Lackawanna College, Luzerne County Community College, Marywood University, Misericordia University, Penn State Scranton, The University of Scranton, Wilkes University.
