As the Accounting intern, you’ll gain an understanding of the operations of an Accounting department, and be mentored by the department manager. Focused on support and learning, you’ll assist in recordkeeping and learn to complete reconciliations and payables, and understand how different departments work with Accounting. You’ll get a great glimpse of overall Simplex operations!

Logistics:

  • Summer 2022, May/June-August
  • 15-30 hours per week, 7-10 weeks
  • $12/hour
  • On-site internship at business location in Scranton (Lackawanna County, PA)

Qualifications:

  • Coursework and/or major in Accounting; strong financial/accounting analysis background
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word
  • Ability to complete tasks assigned in a timely and efficient manner and to adhere to deadlines as assigned by supervisors
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to details, in addition to excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Capable of working in a team environment and accepting of taking direction from supervisors 
  • Can lift a minimum of 25 lbs., if required

Projects:

Gain an understanding of how the Accounting department works, with great mentoring!

  • Gain a basic understanding of accounting for business in a corporate environment
  • Help the accounting staff accomplish daily tasks and gain an understanding of how they affect different departments
  • Aid accounts payable department by processing invoices in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Work with assistant controller to learn how to upkeep sub-ledger accounting and accomplish reconciliations of different types of accounts and subledgers
  • Learn a basic understanding of intercompany journal entries and company filing systems
