Noteology, a Boutique Perfumery and Custom Perfume Studio, has an exciting internship opportunity at its Clarks Summit location. Noteology is the first and only perfumery in Pennsylvania with people coming from around the globe to experience the patented Custom Perfume Studio experience. Noteology also owns a niche fragrance subscription box service and discovery platform called Olfactif that the intern will work on.

The student will have the unique opportunity of being exposed to many varied aspects of the brands including new product development, manufacturing and packaging of its primary products (fine fragrances, candles, soaps, lip balms) inventory & supply chain management, distribution & logics as well as the adventures of a start-up. This internship will be very entrepreneurial in nature, hands-on (you will be working with our team to manufacture and package our products) with the student being exposed to many aspects of a small business.

As an intern, there will be several projects to collaborate on, including a full life cycle of product development! The student will also work with the team on the daily operations of the manufacturing side of the business as well as being exposed to inventory and quality control, best practices in manufacturing, shipping and logistics.

This opportunity is a traditional (semester-long) in-person internship in Clarks Summit, PA.

Logistics:

  • Spring 2022, February start
  • Set 8 hours per week, 12.5 weeks*
  • $10/hour
  • 312 S. State Street, Clarks Summit, PA 18411 location

This internship opportunity is supported by the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Internship Fund.  Students interested in participating in the Small Business Internship Fund must meet at least one of the criteria featured at the end of this description.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • General Business, Marketing, Hospitality, Entrepreneurship, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Logistics, or Operations Management coursework of any collegiate level
  • Strong time and project management skills
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality, consistency, and pride in your work and the products that you create.
  • Excellent verbal communication, basic math and problem-solving skills
  • Strong technology and Microsoft Suite skills  
  • Interest in entrepreneurship and small business operations
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Lifting ability up to 50 lbs.
  • Be able to stand for long periods of time, could be the entire shift, up to 8 hours

Projects:

Throughout this process, you will have the ability to learn daily operations, manufacturing, multiple revenue channels, sales forecasting, production line work and projections, lean manufacturing, quality control, and customer relations from the store owner and key staff.

  • Manufacturing project: learn how to test and proto-type new products; make products from scratch and package them for retail sale for the 2 brands and other brands that we manufacture for across the country. Participate in and view a product’s full life cycle - concept to testing/development, packaging to production and distribution.
  • Inventory Management, logistics, & shipping: learn how to accept incoming orders, reconcile the PO with the product received, sort and distribute product from the order.
