Noteology

Noteology, a Boutique Perfumery and Custom Perfume Studio, has an exciting internship opportunity at its flagship store in downtown Scranton. Noteology is the first and only perfumery in Pennsylvania with people coming from around the globe to experience the patented Custom Perfume Studio experience. Noteology also owns a niche fragrance subscription box service and discovery platform that the intern will work on. The student will have the unique opportunity of being exposed to many varied aspects of the brands including retail management, marketing, branding, new product development, multi-channel sales models, retail sales & customer service, inventory & supply chain management, distribution & logics as well as the adventures of a start-up. This internship will be very entrepreneurial in nature, with the student being exposed to many aspects of a small business.

As an intern, there will be several projects to collaborate on. The student will also work with the team on the daily operations of running an experiential retail location as well as being exposed to store management, inventory control, merchandising, product management, shipping & logistics, event planning, sales and social media.

This opportunity is a traditional (semester-long) in-person internship.

Logistics:

  • Fall 2021, October start
  • Set 8 hours per week, 12.5 weeks*
  • $10/hour
  • 401 Spruce Street, downtown Scranton PA location
  • This opportunity will be in-person/on-site**

Qualifications:

  • General Business, Marketing, Hospitality, Entrepreneurship, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Operations Management coursework of any collegiate level
  • Strong time and project management skills
  • Excellent verbal communication, basic math and problem-solving skills
  • Strong technology and Microsoft Suite skills  
  • Interest in entrepreneurship and small business operations
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Lifting ability up to 50 lbs.
  • Be able to stand for long periods of time, could be the entire shift, up to 8 hours

Projects:

Throughout this process, you will have the ability to learn daily operations, manufacturing, multiple revenue channels, local and national marketing, social media and press relations, retail sales, customer relations from the store owner and key staff.

  • Sales and customer service project: learning how to properly greet customers in a friendly and professional manner, give them a tour of the shop and our offerings along with answering any brand & product related questions and completing the customer transaction at the register with our POS system.
  • Inventory Management, logistics, & shipping: learn how to accept incoming orders, reconcile the PO with the product received, sort and distribute product from the order. This will then lead into updating website with products received, ordering product when needed and doing inventory reconciliation along with shipping the product to customers.
  • Social Media & Marketing: assisting the team in creating social media content and photos and using strategy to place them on the 3 accounts using scheduling software.
