Small Business Cybersecurity Content Development

This opportunity is for current University of Scranton Students: Gain valuable experience by virtually assisting the The University of Scranton Small Business Development Center with developing educational resources and tools to educate entrepreneurs about small business cybersecurity.

The University of Scranton Small Business Development Center provides consulting and training to businesses in an 8-county region in Pennsylvania. The SBDC is located on The University of Scranton campus and is part of the Kania School of Management, the Pennsylvania Small Business Development Center network, and is an accredited member of America’s SBDC.

While most small businesses may understand the importance of cyber security, many might not know the right steps to take. In this internship, you’ll be helping to educate entrepreneurs across the region about the basics of cybersecurity so they can protect their businesses.

Logistics:

  • Hiring 2 interns for Spring 2021, mid-March start, 8 weeks
  • This is a virtual internship - completed entirely remotely
  • 10-15 hours per week per intern
  • $10/hour

Qualifications:

  • Must be current University of Scranton student
  • Interest in Entrepreneurship, Business, Communications, and/or Cybersecurity
  • Experience conducting library and internet research
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with cybersecurity or information technology a plus, but not required.

Projects:

Gain experience and learn to build connections with an audience by working with the SBDC to:

  • Research, write, gather, organize, and edit information on cybersecurity basics for small business
  • Prepare cybersecurity handouts, tip sheets, and web site content to be published and/or shared with small business clients
  • Assist staff with developing and facilitating a small business webinar on cybersecurity
  • Use your creativity and skills to come up with other ideas for sharing the information with entrepreneurs
