This internship opportunity is supported by the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce’s

Small Business Internship Fund.

Students interested in participating in the Small Business Internship Fund must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Be a resident of Lackawanna County currently enrolled in a college or university
  • Be a currently enrolled student of a Lackawanna County college or university
  • Be a currently enrolled student of a Chamber member college or university: Clarks Summit University, Fortis Institute, Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, Johnson College, Keystone College, Lackawanna College, Luzerne County Community College, Marywood University, Misericordia University, Penn State Scranton, The University of Scranton, Wilkes University.

Fall 2019 Education/Early Childhood Internship

Tri-Star Academy engages future education/early childhood professionals in a strong learning environment, preparing them for classroom management, parent interaction, and teamwork. This internship will strengthen current teaching skills and allow for integration of academic knowledge. Come join their team!

Logistics:

  • Fall 2019, August/September start
  • 10 hours per week / 10 weeks
  • $10/hour

Qualifications:

  • Majoring in Early Childhood Education or Human Services Field
  • Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student in college
  • Energetic, positive attitude
  • Ability to create lesson plans and activities
  • Commitment to their chosen profession
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships through communication with employees, students, parents and community
  • Current Child Abuse, State Police, and FBI Fingerprint Clearances
  • Current Physical and TB Test

 

Projects:

  • Work with mentors and assistants to gain confidence in their skills to run all aspects of an Early Education classroom
  • Coordination in lesson planning and instruction
  • Involvement in parent interaction

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand state childcare regulations
  • Coordination of daily schedule design
  • Work collaboratively with mentors and assistants
